Self-styled paranormal investigator type who doesn't realize the monster he keeps finding evidence for all over town and thinks is stalking him is not only completely harmless, but actually himself and trying to warn him of an impending disaster he can only forsee in that form.

He also starts manifesting uncontrollable fire powers around the time the monster first appears, but the disaster doesn't end up connected to that at all.
